- Notes: In the mid 1980s, before the term alt-country was coined, a young Melbourne band played a particular style of music that lived somewhere between country and rock. On any given weekend, you’d find The Warner Brothers playing in one of those great old bars: The POW, The Espy, The Punters, The GB – their songs seeped into the carpet and became part of the long memory that is Melbourne music. ‘Stuck in Melbourne’, ‘Bernie’ and ‘Brunswick St Girl’ lead a long list of well-regarded songs written by James Stewart and Dan Warner. On Friday 6th of May at the Gasometer, The Warner Brothers celebrate 30 years in music together. They will be joined onstage by old friends Mick Thomas and Suzannah Espie PLUS a rare support set by Dan & Al. For anyone who loves the essence of Melbourne music, this is a night not to be missed.
