Recording New Album

Dan Warner recording new album

IN THE STUDIO…

Dan Warner recording new album
The First Day

Well, I’ve finally finished those songs I was talking about and have headed into the studio to record them. I’ve decided to go with an extended ‘Night Parrots’ production team  – with Marcel Borrack in the main chair, ably assisted by Tim Harvey.

I’m pretty excited, to tell you the truth, as this time I feel like I’ve written some songs quite unlike my old stuff (and some in the same style), so the mood is new… I’ve decide to give the producers full control over the project – so I’ve just turned up for a day or two here and there, recorded the bare bones of the songs, and let Tim and Marcel build the songs up from there.

When I go back to the studio a week or so later, it’s like Xmas Day as a kid. I get to sit down and listen to where these two great musicians have taken my songs.

It’s a great adventure. D

WARNER BROTHERS TOGETHER AGAIN AT THE YARRA

Thanks to those of you who came along to the duo show I played with James Stewart last weekend (now dubbed the ‘crazy pony’ gig).

The good news is that the full ‘Warner Brothers’ ensemble returns to The Yarra Hotel in Abbotsford on Sat 27th April (yes, I got confused about the date on stage last weekend…a little over-excited to see those old friends from the Beehive methinks). So, on the 27th it’s The Warner Brothers, featuring our original drummer, the ridiculously good-looking James Carden.

We’ll be playing songs from our first record, Talking In Your Sleep, plus a lot of those old rock ‘n’ roll numbers we used to play in the old days. The show starts at 8.30 and is all over by 11…so come over early and join us for a beer and a bite. The Warner Brothers at the Yarra Hotel, 295 Johnston St, Abbotsford, Saturday 27th April.

RARE DUO GIG WITH JAMES STEWART

This Saturday night Dan goes right back to where it started – playing as a duo with his old friend and musical compadre, James Stewart. Dan & James began playing as a duo in 1985 in pubs such as The Canada in Carlton and The Beehive in Hawthorn. In 1986, when Dan and James added a rhythm section, The Warner Brothers were born. So, if you feel like goin’ back this Saturday, come on down to The Yarra Hotel at 295 Johnston St, Abbotsford. The Yarra Hotel is Mick Thomas’s new pub, so we’re keeping it all in the family.
