New Night Parrots video – ‘Velveteen’
Dan’s songwriting project with Marcel Borrack ‘The Night Parrots‘ just released a new video to accompany their single ‘Velveteen‘.
Here ’tis:
The Warner Brothers play St Kilda
In 1987, when James Stewart and Dan Warner added a rhythm section to their guitar duo, the locals, as a joke, started calling them ‘The Warner Brothers’.

Way before ‘alt-country’ was even thought of as a genre, The Warners were paving the way for the next generation of country-lovin’ folk in the inner city. In fact, the band’s first 1992 single ‘Stuck in Melbourne’ still somehow remains a weird singalong country lament – a tiny lamplight searching its way out of the depths of the grunge era. On Friday 13th of June, The Warner Brothers return to St Kilda for the first time in more than 30 years. James and Dan are still trading blows up the front – and are joined by original drummer James Carden as referee, and bass player Alics Gate-Eastley as the voice of reason. A rare show down south. The President of the United States
About time Dan released another protest song…
So, he’s gathered together a bunch of his old Melbourne mates to record this new song: ‘The President of the United States’: James Stewart and James Carden from THE WARNER BROTHERS; Alics Gate-Eastley from the T-BONES; and Dave Evans from THE BAND WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. Recorded live at Audrey Studios by another old friend, Craig Pilkington.

The times are urgent!
‘Bernie’ now up on Spotify
Dan’s celebrated song from the 1990s ‘Bernie’ is now up on Spotify.
Produced by Marcel Borrack for Dan’s second album ‘Night Parrots’, this acoustic rendering of the tale of two soldier friends from WWII is the definitive recording. Here’s the link:
